banana 香蕉

(1) bananas (to be):

to be crazy 發瘋的,神經錯亂的

注：to go bananas:

a. to become crazy. 發瘋,神經錯亂

例：

I'm so bored I'm going bananas.

我煩得要死，快發瘋了。

b. to become wild with anger 狂怒,氣得發瘋

例：

She went bananas when she found him cheating.

她發現他欺騙時氣得要命。

(2) play second banana (to):

to be second choice

第二選擇，次要人物

例：

I always play second banana to her.

我總是做她的後補。

(3) top banana:

main boss

領袖，頭頭，大老闆

例：

He's (the) top banana in this company.

apple 蘋果

(1) apple of one's eye (to be the):

to be one's favorite 掌上明珠;心愛物

例：

She is the apple of her father's eye.

她是她父親的掌上明珠。

(2) Big Apple (the):

New York

大蘋果城(即紐約)

例：

I live in the Big Apple. 我住在大蘋果城。

(3) compare apples and oranges (to):

to compare two things that simply cannot be compared.

比較兩個無法相比的事物

例：

That's you're comparing apples and oranges.

真可笑。你是在那兩種無法相比的東西作比較，就好像蘋果和桔子。

注：這是對某種冒犯性行為做出報復後説的話。

grapes 葡萄

sour grapes
